Blackboard Connect
Blackboard Connect-ED / Connect 5 is our community outreach notification tool designed to aid in the distribution of important information. This well respected and widely used service will enable Clearmont Elementary and the Yancey County School District to communicate with parents about emergency situations, school events and important issues impacting your child via personalized voice and/or text messages to your family's home, work or cell phones. Essentially, a school principal or district administrator can make one phone call that reaches families and/or employees in a short amount of time. Need to hear a message again? If you've missed a message, or you'd like to hear a message again, please call: 1-855-4Replay (1-855-473-7529) from the phone in which the original message was received. Important Call Delivery Notes

PARENT LETTER Beginning-of-Grade 3 English Language Arts/Reading Test
Clearmont Elementary School 1175 Clearmont School Road Burnsville, NC 28714
September 2017
Dear Parents and Families,
As part of the Read to Achieve law (G.S. §115C-83.1), your child was given the Beginning-of-Grade 3 English Language Arts/Reading Test to establish a baseline measure of how he or she is reading. An Individual Student Report (ISR) of your child’s test scores will be sent home to you. The test results will help you and your school address the learning needs of your child so that he or she will continue to progress in reading proficiency.
As you review your child’s score report, make notes about your child’s test scores and other questions you may have. Be sure to discuss your questions with your child’s teacher when you attend a parent-teacher-student conference. Please remember that test scores should always be considered along with all other available information provided about your child. Any standardized test score is just a single indicator of student performance and just one piece of the educational picture. Your child’s teacher can best describe your child’s performance on the test in addition to specific strengths and weaknesses observed throughout the school year.
If you have questions or concerns about this test or the Read to Achieve law requirements, please contact either myself or your child’s teacher. We look forward to working for you and your child and helping him or her become a better reader by the end of third grade.
Sincerely, Stuart Jolley Principal |
